sad man happy man isn’t even on my top five list for the year, but this song is probably my #1. i don’t even know why! it’s not doughty’s greatest song ever (that would be “the only answer.” i’m willing to hear arguments about this though) but i can’t stop listening to it. i’m still super-bummed that he didn’t play it when i saw him this year.

best show: the first damion show of the year was easily the best for me. i actually called it in the middle of the show, which was a somewhat ridiculous claim (it was the first week in january), but the energy and the crowd and the emotion in the room were all incredible. the wizard rock classics show (butterbeer experience, jff, the moaning myrtles, the whomping willows, and the remus lupins) was probably my #2. y’all know i have a weakness for the lupins though! worst show: the one that eve 6 had to cancel was pretty wretched. the two openers were saw were terrible, and we only found out that the headliner cancelled by checking their myspace on my phone. it was a crappy experience all around. (the bands aren’t listed because i don’t remember their names and cannot be bothered to find out.) acts i had never heard of but had completely won me over by the end of their set: the venetia fair (def my favorites! really want to see them live again), the blubbering humdingers, cara salimando acts i met: cure for caska, fred lives, house of black, jenny owen youngs, justin finch-fletchley, lauren fairweather, some of ministry of magic, alex from the remus lupins, the whomping willows, and the parselmouths (who i didn’t even get to actually see, wtf). i’ve met most of the wrockers before, but they’re always all such sweethearts. it was nice to finally meet matt from cure for caska, since he’s twitter-stalking my friends (:D), and i had a good talk with jenny which was obviously thrilling.
