whenever i see mike doughty, there is always this one awkward moment where i wonder if maybe he is psychic and can he hear my thoughts and oh god. at last night’s show, this song was it. he started the show with songs off haughty melodic (he actually played a lot of haughty) and i was sadfacing a little, and hoping for some songs off skittish/rockity roll. but i’ve already heard my favorite two songs off that album live (in similar circumstances, actually) so i spent a good minute trying to remember the name of this song and literally seconds after my a HA! moment he started playing it. here’s the thing though- if there’s gonna be someone out there who can read my thoughts, i’m pretty okay with it being doughty. he seems pretty chill and non-judgmental, which is really all you can ask for in a possible mind-reader.
